That means investing in infrastructure - from shipbuilding to port improvements. It means investing in workforce development - from new career pipelines beginning in high school to higher education training and certification programs. And it means investing in communities - supporting research institutions, nonprofit organizations, and local and statewide leaders in the fight against climate change.

We are all-in on New England and building assets here that will support Revolution Wind - and future offshore wind endeavors - for many years to come.

What kind of economic development is underway?

  • Ørsted has a growing co-U.S. headquarters in Providence.
  • Our ProvPort construction hub is powered by local union workers who build components for wind turbine foundations.
  • Our newly opened logistics hub at Quonset is bustling with activity.
  • Our investments in State Pier in New London are making it a regional hub of the offshore wind industry, and workers here are staging and assembling components for all our Northeast projects.
  • Crew transfer vessels, which will provide transportation to and from our wind farms, are being built by Rhode Island shipyards Blount Boats and Senesco Marine.

Taking a responsible approach to climate action


Rhode Island and Connecticut have set some of the most ambitious clean energy targets in the country, and we are committed to helping both states meet these goals. From world-class beaches and parks to diverse wildlife, New England's natural resources are a treasure, and we take seriously our responsibility to be good stewards of our environment.
 
What steps are we taking to support climate action?
 
Revolution Wind will provide 100% renewable energy to Rhode Island and Connecticut, moving both states significantly closer to their clean energy targets.
 
Additionally, we have conducted extensive environmental surveys up and down the East Coast – more than any other developer. All ecological aspects of the wind farm have been extensively investigated and we are relying on that data to minimize the ecological impact of the wind farm. We are also supporting marine research at leading institutions like the University of Rhode Island and Mystic Aquarium - research that will further protect our ocean ecosystem.
